  • While PETA may be concentrating their current marketing campaign on becoming vegan, their actual mission is much more disturbing. Their main mission is to stop humans from exploiting animals in any way, shape or form. That includes the ownership of pets.

  • The majority of commenters here are speaking from ignorance. Pit Bulls were never bred to be aggressive towards humans, and even dogs used for fighting were destroyed if they showed aggression towards humans.

  • I work for a medium sized community college, and we take student behavior problems very seriously. We have a counseling center, and students who are deemed at risk are always referred to the counselors. However, you cannot force someone to take advantage of the services available to them.

  • Actually pet food recalls on 'brand name' products are quite common. Buying a "brand name" food is no better than buying the cheapest generic food on the market.

  • While I had my first dogs live to be 16 & 17 yrs old, both eating Ol'Roy, I have learned about dog food. Just like people, there are some dogs that can be healthy on junk food and some that cannot.

  • I would agree that some animals in shelters originally came from mills - the ones whose owners bought them on impulse. But why on earth would you pay a pet store $1200 for a dog that you can get the same exact breed through a breed specific rescue for a couple of hundred?

  • Your comments are ridiculous. While there are many venues available to obtain animals, banning the sale of them in pet stores is not going to raise prices or limit choices. Pet stores normally charge a much higher price that what you would pay if buying directly from a breeder.

  • While the fees charged by the rescue you refer to might be a bit high, the only way that rescues can afford to help more animals is to charge fees. Perhaps costs in your area are higher which forces the rescue to charge more.
